2010 – 2011 Summary
The Woman's Club enjoyed another successful year!
Through our program speakers, we learned more about
the non-profit organizations that we support throughout the
year. These included First Visitor, Partners in Housing, A Kidz
Hope, Colorado
College scholarship
program and Ronald Mc Donald House.
Our Mystery Tours included a visit to the Simpich
Marionettes and a trip to Canon City for lunch and a cooking
demonstration at the Queen Anne Tea House.
One of our continuing projects is A Kidz Hope
which is a temporary safe house for girls under 18 years of age. At
Christmas, our members purchased clothing, grooming items, purses,
lotions and gift certificates for haircuts and movies to give to the
girls.
Our annual fall luncheon and fashion show was
another special project. Terra Verde provided the fashions and our
members and scholarship recipients modeled.
It was a very entertaining event and the proceeds went to the
Empty Stocking Fund and to our Colorado College scholarship fund,
which provides two annual scholarships to women
who attend Colorado College.
Another fundraising event was our annual Bunko
party in the spring. We brought items to donate to Partners In
Housing.
Some of our volunteer projects included serving
lunched to senior citizens under the Golden Circle Nutrition
Program, cooking meals for Ronald McDonald House, making comfort
pillows and knitting caps for breast cancer patients, making packets
for First Visitor and participating in The Early Connections
Learning Centers' Gingerbread and Jazz annual fundraiser.
